Forum of Ukraine concerning competition commenced in Kyiv
Today the VІ Forum of Ukraine concerning competition commenced in Kyiv, organised by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine jointly with the Competition Development Foundation.
The leadership of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, representatives of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, central executive bodies, Chairman of the OECD Competition Committee Frederic Jenny, representatives of Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, the World Bank, Energy Community Secretariat, business ombudsman board, leaders and representatives of competition authorities of Byelorussia, Bulgaria, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia and Turkey, business and expert community, Competition Development Fund experts, international experts, representatives of professional associations, business communities, the public and the media will take participation in the event.
The Forum will discuss the results of the 2016 OECD Survey on implementation of the recommendations on Competition Policy and Law by Ukraine.
These recommendations were given to Ukraine subsequently to the results of OECD Survey on Competition Law and Policy of Ukraine in 2008 and UNCTAD Freewill expert survey on Competition Law and Policy of Ukraine in 2011. The main outcome of the Survey is to provide a series of recommendations to the Cabinet and Parliament, and the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine for the further development of Competition Policy and Law of Ukraine. Recommendations will be presented as a part of the Forum.
For two days on March 2-3 it is planned to discuss topical issues of economic competition, including legislative support reforms in the competition, judicial reform and its impact on the development of competition, the practical aspects of the implementation of the system of state aid control, the improvement of investigative powers of competition authorities and cooperation with law enforcement agencies to ensure the effective investigation of cartels and other anticompetitive offenses and so on.
With that, tomorrow on March 3 as a part of the Forum the Committee Chairman Yury Terentiev will present a report of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine on the progress made in 2016.
